The book still needs to be a book they have not read before, on their reading level, and at least 100 pages (except for the biographies those can be 50 pages).
Students can also choose what they will do for their book report from the list below. Please send back the bottom of this paper by Friday the 6th so I know what they student is doing and that they have started!
Kind of Report
Description
Written summary
An old fashion summary report. In at least three paragraphs, students need to summarize the main events of the book from beginning to end. It needs to be well organized and use 4th grade level spelling and grammar.
Picture of Important Scene
For the book report, students need to do a neatly drawn picture of the most important part of the book on an 8 ½ by 11 in piece of paper. Then, write a paragraph on the back of the paper explaining what is happening in the picture and why it is the most important part of the book.
Oral Report
The book report will be an oral report that is 2 to 3 minutes long. The student will dress up as his or her favorite character from the book and tell about their life from that character’s perspective.
Book Review
The book report will be a two-paragraph book review (with topic and closing sentences and correct grammar and punctuation). The first paragraph should be a brief summary of the book. The second paragraph should be a review of the book explaining why they liked it or didn’t like.
Timeline
Timeline of important events with pictures, a sentence describing it and important dates.
Wanted Poster
The book report will be to make a “Wanted Poster” for one of the main characters. In this poster you will describe the character; what do they look like, act like, what do they do? You also need to describe what they are wanted for. It does NOT have to be a crime; they could be wanted for being brave, or for being a good friend. Wanted posters also have a drawing of the person. The poster can be on an 8 by 11 paper or 11 by 19 paper but not bigger than that.
Convince Us to Read It Speech
This book report will be an Oral Book report. The students will have 1:30 to 2 minutes to convince us to read the book. They need to tell us a little about it to get us interested but not too much to give it away and then tell us why we should read the book. Students should give us reasons and details just like they do in persuasive writing.
